The 26th annual National Conference on Undergraduate Research (NCUR) will be held March 29 - 31, 2012  at Weber State University. The ATP coordinators encourage all BSU undergraduate students who have participated in research or other forms of scholarly, creative or artistic work to submit an abstract to NCUR for possible acceptance and presentation. NCUR will consider abstracts from students involved in a variety scholarly and artistic activities representing a range of disciplines including creative arts, mathematics, business, social science, humanities, physical and life sciences, natural resources and engineering, among others. Please note that NCUR has a competitive abstract review process, so you are strongly advised to work with your mentor and the ATP coordinators in preparing your abstract. It is anticipated that 25-30 BSU students and faculty will be making the trip to NCUR in the spring.

Students attending NCUR are expected to come from over 300 colleges and universities, representing almost every state in the nation. Since its inception in 1987, NCUR has become a major annual event drawing over 2,500 undergraduates, faculty, and administrators to hear and discuss undergraduate creative and scholarly work by means of:

  • Topical sessions with 15-minute oral presentations

  • Interdisciplinary poster sessions

  • Artistic performances and visual art exhibits

Important Dates:
October 3, 2011 Abstract Submission Opens
November 15, 2011 Abstract Submission Closes
January 6, 2012 Notification of Abstract Acceptance
January 13, 2012 Early Registration Opens
February 9, 2012 Early Registration Closes

To simplify travel and reduce costs, all BSU students going to NCUR will travel in a group and stay in the same hotel. Travel and hotel arrangements will be made by the Office of Undergraduate Research at no cost to students. Tentatively, we will depart BSU on Wednesday, March 28, and return on Sunday, April 1. BSU students who present at NCUR participate in the whole conference. If you know that you will not be available March 28-April 1, please do not apply to NCUR, since the conference planners assume that all accepted students will be presenting. Thank you!

n addition, NCUR presents an opportunity to hear nationally prominent speakers and for faculty to discuss educational policy, programs and funding for undergraduate scholarly work.

For additional information or assistance please contact the Tinsley Program Coordinators: Dr. Steven Haefner, or Dr. Teresa King.
