Dear Alumni:
I hope this letter finds you well. My name is Luis N. Rosa, Class of '05, and I am the new President of the African American Alumni Association. I have the honor of serving for the next two years along with Past President, Jacqueline Tucker '90, Vice President, Nanette E. Baines G'04 and Secretary, Dorie AuCoin '76 and G'79.
During the course of each academic year, the Association works closely with the campus community to provide programs and support for students. Whether it is the Dress for Success program, the Kwanzaa Celebration or a Career Services workshop, our alumni stay committed to helping students succeed.
At this time, I am very pleased to inform you that through the hard work and generosity of many African American alumni, administrators, faculty and friends, next spring we will be awarding the first Arthur Cox Memorial Scholarship to a Bridgewater State College undergraduate student.
While at BSC, Mr. Cox was known as a scholar, a student leader and friend to many people on campus. Many thanks to everyone who contributed to this scholarship fund and for making this scholarship award a reality. It is our hope that the determination and will power that Mr. Cox exemplified will continue to inspire current and future students at BSC.
I encourage you to join us for our bi-monthly meetings and becoming actively involved with the organization. The African American Alumni Association meets on the second Tuesday of every other month at 6 p.m. and a light dinner is provided in the Davis Alumni Center. Please consider becoming actively involved. If you would like to attend a meeting to learn more about the organization, please contact Director of Alumni Relations, Candace Maguire, at 508-531-2695.
It is important as graduates of BSC, to give back and help our students of color follow in the same positive path we took during our undergraduate/graduate years.
I look forward to the year ahead and working with you to make sure that our students continue to Expect More and Achieve More from BSC.
Thank you!
Luis N. Rosa
President
African American Alumni Association
