ANNUAL ALUMNI DINNER

APRIL 5, 2008

  

The Afro-American Alumni Association hosted a fundraising dinner on Saturday, April 5th honoring Arthur Cox ‘98 who passed away suddenly in 2006.  Arthur’s mother, Mrs. Joetta Cox and family members attended the dinner and Mrs. Cox presented the college with $6,000 on behalf of the family toward the establishment of a scholarship in memory of Arthur.  Chairman of the Bridgewater State College Board of Trustees, Mr. Louis Ricciardi and his wife, Dr. Cynthia Ricciardi also presented the college with a $5,000 gift, which served as a matching gift for all donations received from 2/1/08 through 4/01/08.  The audience enjoyed a video presentation of Arthur’s life at BSC while Dr. Alan Comedy and Dorie AuCoin spoke about the impact that Arthur had on BSC students while attending BSC and how his work continued with students as an alumnus.

Over $25,000 was raised for the scholarship fund and the first award of $1,000 will be made in the spring of 2010. If you would like to see scholarship fund  continue allowing more students much needed financial aid you may make a donation to the Arthur Cox Memorial Scholarship by sending your gift made payable to the Bridgewater State College Foundation (with a notation it is designated to the Cox Memorial Scholarship Fund) to Candace Maguire, 25 Park Terrace, Bridgewater, MA 02325.
