Bridgewater State College's Arts for Youth

(ages 13-15)

Arts for Teens Goes Broadway Again This Summer!!

The Arts for Teens program is for guys and girls ages 13-15, and runs from 9:00am-4:00pm, Monday through Friday in TWO, Three-Week Sessions. In each session, the Teens work on producing and performing their own unique version of a hot Broadway Musical. In Session One, the Teens will produce Anything Goes, and in Session Two they will delight audiences with The Wiz! Karen Robinson and Will Candler will return to co-direct both productions, with Neil Reilly providing musical direction.

The structure of the Arts for Teens day will remain similar to past summers – teens will study the craft of acting in the morning, in addition to working with a choreographer.  They will also work with a visual artist for one hour each day, who will help them design and create the scenery and props for each production.  Late mornings and afternoons are devoted to rehearsing the show.  (Teens are also invited to periodically perform songs and scenes in the AfY 12:30 Revue, as they strengthen performance skills and ready themselves for audience feedback!)  At the end of both sessions, teens will design the flyers and program for their production, and Anything Goes and the The Wiz will be performed on the final Thursday night of each session (7/15& 8/05) at 7:00pm. These performances are open to all invited friends, family members, and the community at large.  Admission is free!
