Bridgewater State College's Arts for Youth

presents

Hearts with Ukes classes : Saturdays, from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m.!
Hearts with Ukes (HwU) is a unique new troupe of young performers, ages 6-12, who volunteer their singing, acting, and musical talents to raise money for other less fortunate children. These creative and confident boys and girls perform to entertain family audiences and raise money for a number of well-established children’s charities such as the Jimmy Fund, St Jude’s Hospital, and the Muscular Dystrophy Association (Jerry’s Kids).
HwU delighted the audience at their “world premiere” performance for the public at Bridgewater State College in December of 2006. Since then they have helped to raised money for Amnesty International, Iraqi Children, Relay for Life, and other free concerts for the Bridgewater Community.
HwU, founded by Jim Quinn, is the latest initiative under the umbrella of the Arts for Youth program, which is a multi-arts camp he founded 12 years ago for children ages 7-12. Professor Quinn leads HwU with the assistance of a college student who also performs with the troupe.
This fall we are bringing HwU together to rehearse and create a music video, as well as put together a new, brief show that we will present some time this spring to benefit children’s charities. The entire class will run for 2 hours: the first hour will be ukulele instruction; the second hour will be devoted to video production, where we will work on our music video, as well as other fun, video shorts.
