Log In

In order for Community Announcements to verify that you are indeed a member of the BSC campus, you must log in with your BSC username and password first. This is the same username and password that you would use to log onto any school computer or webmail.

Posted By

The Posted By field is automatically filled out for you by the system when you Log In.

Select a Category

You must choose a category for your message. This aids in organizing the messages and makes finding a particular message easier.

Display Date

Here, you may select to have you message displayed immediately (after it has been approved) or select another display date for your message. This is helpful for those who may be away from the campus for whatever reason, but would still want a message to be sent while they were gone. Make sure that if you do want your message to be delayed to not only select the display date, but also select the radio button next to the display date, otherwise your message will be displayed as soon as it is approved.

Subject & Content

The subject field will be the field that most everyone will see immediately, so make sure your subject appropriately represents the content of your message. The content of your message will be displayed when a person views your message as it is the main body of your message.

Optional Fields

There are a series of optional fields that are provided for further convenience. The short summary field is sent with e-mails and provides more space than the subject with which to further describe the contents of your message. The related urls are seperated from the main body of the message to make identifying important web sites easier for the viewer of the message. The contact e-mail field is much like the related urls fields in that it is also seperated from the main message to make identifying a contact person easier. The contact phone does exactly what the contact e-mail field does except for a phone number or extension. The attachments allow you to upload documents or images that are related to your e-mail. The attachments are displayed as links to the files at the bottom of the message with the related urls and contact information.

Urgent Message

This box should be checked only in cases where a message must be approved soon. By clicking the urgent box, a message will be sent to the moderators, informing them directly of an urgent post that should be checked.

Error Messages

If any field has a problem with it, you will receive an error message. The error message with describe the problem, and you may fix it and re-submit your e-mail. Note: because of the nature of attachments, you will have to re-select and upload your files.

To check the status of your posted message, use your personal archive!
