Dear Beautification Committee: I wonder if anything could be done about the Event Signs I see around Campus? They are the white, plastic signs that fold like a reverse "V" and have information that help guide visitors to different events. The biggest problem is that they typically have only a few 8 1/2 x 11 Pieces of paper on them that either gets blown away by the wind or by rain. I just think they could look better - laminated signage, color-usage, etc, and as a result would look significantly more presentable/readable/aesthetically pleasing. As always, the campus looks beautiful. Thanks and have a great summer!

I graduated in 1980, now my son is attending and living at Scott Hall. The upgrades to every aspect of BSC are astounding and reflect enormous pride and hard work. My only suggestion would be to see more conifers since the winters can be so long and dreary, and also some stone walls, that most quintessential New England feature.

The trees on campus are lovely. I only wish that they had tags or plates to identify their common names. These would make walks in the beautiful gardens on campus even more refreshing. I would like to know, is there a master groundskeepers' plan on file, something I could browse and use to identify our campus flora?

I would love to see planters or something alive near the door of Tillinghast ground floor! It is such a dead space all along the base (summer street entrance level) that any trees, flowers etc. would be a welcome addition. Thank you!
Melissa Hines - 010 Tillinghast Hall

Dear Committee, I also would like to commend your efforts it making the campus the nicest in the state college system. As Athletics is always hosting potential future students and their families, we always here great comments from them about how nice the campus looks. If I could make a suggestion as a employee and a alumni, I would love to see some formal entry done with in conjuction with the Pope Hall renovation. Simular to the ones done behind Boyden and on Hooper Street. Lastly, it would be great to include Tinley Drive in the completed light pole sign project.
Glenn Gonsalves - BSC Athletics

Dr. Walter Hewitson dedicated much of his professional career at BSC establishing a unique teaching garden of trees and shrubs from all over the United States. He also created the Japanese garden on the north side of the Science Building. Could the teaching garden be named in honor of Dr. Hewitson? Could the Beautification Committee work with the New Science building committee and facilities to protect these specimens from being destroyed?
Kevin D. Curry - BSC Biology

Dear Beautification Committee: As a student of BSC I want to take this time to thank you for making our school's campus look so wonderful throughout each of the seasons that arrive during a normal year here in New England. Especially this time of year, the Spring, your efforts are noticed by all of us here who populate the BSC community. I am writing, also, to suggest that the barrier on Burrill Ave be removed/renovated. Its a worn down cement block that could easily be replaced by a similar cement block that could be painted or designed in a way that would make it more of a 'welcome to bridgewater state college' sign rather than a bland, broken, old block. I am involved with student leadership organizations on campus and would be interested to find out if this sign could be replaced by the work/budget/volunteering of us students, as I certainly do not want to come accross as unwilling to help out my own suggestion. I may be contacted at cmarkey@bridgew.edu and I thank you very much for your time, consideration and constant efforts and successful changes you continuoulsy make to this great school.
