NESTVAL, MontrĂ©al

The annual meeting of NESTVAL (the New England St. Lawrence Valley Geography Society), was held in Montreal, from October 14-16, 2011, hosted by Concordia University. Dr. Vernon Domingo accompanied eight BSU geography majors to the meeting, where they took part in the Geography Bowl, and three students--Ashley Costa, Lara Joyce, and Warren Sutcliffe--made presentations. According to Dr. Domingo, "Our geography students did BSU proud. They learned a great deal about the procedures of professional meetings and had a lot of fun exploring Montreal--a new city and a new country for many of them. Especially popular among the students were visits to the BioSphere and BioDome. Dr. Domingo sent the photographs seen here, taken by Ashley Costa, "a real photographer with a real camera."

"Thank you so much for providing support for this project. The students benefited a great deal after having direct contact with our neighbor to the north.

Canada now means something to them, someplace special." -- Dr. Vernon Domingo
