  • Look professional- make a positive first impression
  • Wear something that is comfortable
  • Combine personal style with good taste

Interview Attire: The Basics
  • Conservative suit in black, gray or navy blue
  • Buy good quality and properly fitting clothing
  • Black or dark shoes- polished & no scuffs
  • White or light colored shirt that is well pressed
  • Try on your interview outfit ahead of time

  • No stains, tears, rips or lint
  • Dressing too casually is a mistake
  • Don’t wear an ill-fitting suit
  • Be careful not to dress more socially formal rather than professionally formal

  • Skirt length no more than 2 inches above knee
  • Shoes
    • 2 inch heels maximum
    • NO open toe
  • Some companies find pant suits and dresses too casual
  • A professional, conservative jacket and skirt suit is always right

  • Match your belt and shoes (same color)
  • Tie
    • Stylish but conservative
    • Fall at the top of belt buckle
    • Length not too short, not too long

Grooming Essentials
  • Hair should be neat and not attract attention
  • Scents, perfume and aftershave should be subdued
  • Hands and nails clean and manicured
  • No visible piercings or tattoos
  • Watch what you eat before/during an interview
  • (no onions, coffee, cigarettes, etc)
  • Women: make-up should not be over done
  • Men: clean shaven beards/mustaches trimmed

  • What is business casual?
  • Combination of traditional business & casual attire
  • Crisp, neat, put-together look
  • Classic not trendy
  • Dress business casual but always professionally
  • NO jeans, sneakers, t-shirts, tight fitting or revealing clothing
  • Different ideas of business casual…if in doubt, ask!
