Tinsley Internship Award Banner

Overview:

The Tinsley Public Service Internship Award is designed to assist a Bridgewater State University student in completing an approved unpaid credit-bearing internship. Preference is given to students with an interest public service, non-profit, government, social service or education. The award will provide $2000 to a qualifying BSU student completing a summer 2013 internship.   

Minimum criteria include the following:

Eligibility criteria: 

  • Minimum GPA of 2.5 (or higher as required by certain majors)
  • Full-time, junior or senior status  (Criminal Justice majors must be in their senior year)
  • Enrolled in a credit-bearing internship for summer 2013

Internship criteria:

  • A well-defined job/project description for the work experience.
  • An academic component related to coursework in the student's major or minor
  • A minimum of 45 clocked hours per internship credit earned (i.e., 3 credits = 135 hrs. รท 10 weeks = 13.5 hrs per week)

Employer criteria:

  • Be an established business/organization in operation for at least one year 
  • Be located and conduct business in a commercially zoned office space
  • Assign an on-site supervisor/mentor who provides daily or weekly supervision

Application Process:  Complete the Internship Award application packet and submit it by the April 19, 2013 deadline.

Selection of Recipient:

The recipient of the award will be selected on the basis of their application, resume, and essay explaining how the internship will benefit the candidate, with preference given to those with a demonstrated interest in public service, non-profit, government, social service or education.

Notification & Award Distribution:

The student elected to receive the Internship Award will be notified in writing on or before April 27, 2013.

Distribution of funds:  In accordance with the Tinsley Public Service Internship Award Disbursement Agreement (see application packet)
