Facilities Overtime Details

Maintainer Details

A "maintainer detail" is the term used to describe a college custodian (maintainer) on special work assignment to support an event at the event sponsor's expense.  Custodial details are sometimes required for campus meetings and events.  All custodial details in support of campus programs are arranged through the Conference and Event Services office (CESO).

Maintainer details are for a minimum of 4 hours and are assigned at the discretion of the Facilities department.  They may be required to support a program or to provide support following an event that originally did not call for a detail but due to circumstances results in requiring one. (i.e. unanticipated cleanup, furniture moved out of place, etc.).

Maintainer details are assigned based on any or all of the following criteria:

Program Location

Some locations on campus do not typically require a maintainer detail.  These are the Bridgewater Dining Room (BDR), One Park Avenue and the East Campus Commons North, South, East, West and Executive Dining Rooms, when food service is provided.

Time of Program

If the program occurs after 4:00 pm or on the weekends, a detail may be required.  If the building in which the program is occurring is ordinarily scheduled to be closed at the time of the program, a detail will be required to open and close the building.

Program Attendance

Programs with at least 75 participants may require a detail.

Scope of Program

When a program has special requirements, such as extensive food service, a detail may be required.  The scope of the program and the requirements/resources needed for a program will determine the need for a detail.

Ground Details

Grounds details are assigned to support programs taking place outdoors.  Programs occurring after 4:00 pm and/or on weekends may require a detail depending on the scope of the program and the attendance.  Grounds details are always required for lining of athletic fields. All grounds details are a four-hour minimum and are assigned at the discretion of the Facilities department.

Electrical Details

Some events requiring power usage above and beyond the capability of a regular sound system will require an electrician to be assigned to your event.  As with other details, they are assigned at a four hour minimum and are at the discretion of the Facilities department.
