The Classes of 1940 and 1962 established the Jordan D. Fiore Research Prize in World Justice in honor of Jordan D. Fiore, a highly esteemed Bridgewater State College professor of history and class of 1940 alumnus of the college. The prize is awarded annually to a full-time Bridgewater State College faculty member or librarian who is seeking support for a research or other academic project related to world justice. The applicant should be pursuing cross-disciplinary research or scholarly work in the areas of History, Sociology, Psychology, or Criminal Justice. The awardee will receive a plaque and a check for $3,400.
Nominations and applications for this award should be submitted by February 1, 2010 to the Office of Academic Affairs. Nominations/applications should include a 2-3 page description of proposed research or related project and an explanation of how the prize will help achieve the research/project outcomes. A committee consisting of the dean of each school, the director of libraries, the provost & vice president for academic affairs, and the associate provost for academic affairs will make a recommendation to the president.
