About Distance Learning

Bridgewater State College students have the opportunity to take courses delivered by a variety of distance learning modalities. We offer the following types of distance learning courses:

Video / DVD

Video / DVD Courses consist of pre-recorded programs available on videocassette or DVD from the college in addition to supplemental materials. There will be some additional class meetings on campus.

Web Courses (WEB)

Web Courses are offered entirely over the World Wide Web. There will be no face-to-face meetings.  Requirements include access to a personal computer with printer and Internet connection, browsing capability and email. Web-Based Courses (WBL)

Web-based courses are offered primarily over the World Wide Web.  Requirements include access to a personal computer with printer and Internet connection, browsing capability and email.  Supplemental face-to-face class meetings on campus will be required. (up to 8 hours)  See course details or instructor for specific computer hardware and/or software requirements and on campus meetings.

Half Web / Half Lecture (WBH)

Half of the course is web-based and half face-to-face class meetings. (up to 19 hours)  Requirements include access to a personal computer with printer and Internet connection, browsing capability and email.  See course details or instructor for specific computer hardware and/or software and on campus meetings.

Interactive Video Conferencing (D)

Synchronous – 2 way interactive audio/video classes will be available to various sites. These courses will be conducted via compressed video (2 way audio and video). Students may take the course at the site most convenient to their school, home or office.
