Earth Science Programs

The department offers several major and minor programs in Earth Science for students with a variety of career goals. The programs below are ideally suited to prepare students for graduate study, jobs within earth science and environmental geoscience, and teaching. For students interested in graduate study or careers within earth science, we recommend the B.S. in Earth Science with a Geology or Environmental Geoscience Concentration. For prospective elementary school teachers, we recommend the B.A. in Earth Science and for prospective secondary school teachers, we recommend the B.S in Earth Science (with no concentration). We are the only school in the Massachusetts State College System to offer a B.S. in Earth Science with a Concentration in Geology. Moreover, our academic programs include the option to receive credit for undergraduate research projects, summer geology field schools, and study abroad.
