Energy
Awareness & Conservation Week:
The Office of Facilities
Management & Planning along with the Energy Bear Awareness &
Conservation Team is sponsoring Energy Awareness and Conservation Week at
Bridgewater State College the week of January 22 - 25, 2002 from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.
From 1995 - 2001 energy costs at BSC have nearly doubled! The
cost for fiscal 2002 for electric, gas, oil, and water and sewer usage was $2.2
million. The Energy Awareness and Conservation Team wants to reduce
this expense, producing savings that can be made available to fund other
programmatic needs at BSC. Our goal is to reduce energy costs by 10 percent.
Typically, the months of January - March are the highest consumption months.
To reach our goal, we need the entire BSC community to participate. Let's
all join Energy Bear in this effort and produce a win for BSC!

Energy
Bear Wants You to Know:
- The
state allocation for Bridgewater State College for fiscal year 2002 is $33
million and $2.2 million alone is spent on energy!
- If
you turn your computer monitor off before you leave, you can save BSC 63¢
per week. If
half the campus participates, that's a $567
per
week savings.
-
If
2,000 resident students cut their shower time from 20 minutes to 10 minutes,
you can save BSC $280
daily!
($240 - water & sewer and $40 - electric) That's 40,000 gallons
daily.
-
Americans
represent 5 percent of the world's population, but we consume
30 percent of the world's resources!
