Writing Concentration

The writing concentration is designed to offer a student supervised writing throughout the college career. Students may select courses which emphasize applied writing (technical and business writing), expressive or referential writing or the teaching of writing.

Requisite: 9 credits from among the following courses (plus ENGL 489). These credits are part of, not in addition to, the 36 required for the major.

  • ENGL 371 Advanced Creative Nonfiction Writing Workshop
  • ENGL 372 Advanced Fiction Writing Workshop
  • ENGL 389 Topics in Writing
  • ENGL 390 Theories of Writing

  • ENGL 489 Advanced Portfolio Workshop. Required of all students with a writing concentration.
