Raise awareness of and sensitivity to transgender issues

  1. The Pronoun Project

    • Make pronoun buttons available in the Pride Center. COMPLETED 9/10!

    • Present a training/workshop on trans issues and gender pronouns. 

    • Create gender pronoun information in the form of a handout or pamphlet available in the Pride Center

  2. Create a Genderqueer/Transgender Caucus. COMPLETED! The Gender Variant Caucus had their first meeting on 10-29-09.

  3. Gender-neutral Housing Option for First Year Students and Sophomores, Juniors, and Seniors that independent of lottery drawing

    • Research current policy and best practices across the nation

    • Develop potential solutions that allow trans students the option of gender neutral housing without having to "out" themselves

Encourage open discussions about sexuality with international students

1. Presentation to international students about our Pride Center on campus. COMPLETED 9/16/09!
2. Cultural Caucus Dinner: Invite international students to a dinner conversation in a safe, open, and relaxed environment GLBT-identified students.

Foster greater awareness of the importance of allies

  1. Ally Appreciation Day COMPLETED 12/3/09

  2. Create Ally Newsletter COMPLETED 12/1/09

  3. Write articles for The Comment ONGOING (several issues have featured these articles)

  4. National Day of Silence followed by BBQ (co-sponsored with Aware and SGA) on April 16th to celebrate the breaking of the silence

  5. Bring Lt. Dan Choi (www.ltdanchoi.com/) to campus on March 30th to speak about Don't Ask, Don't Tell

Minorities within a Minority::
Raise awareness and promote inclusion of pansexual, sapiosexual, intersex, genderqueer, polyamorous, and BDSM individuals

Work with Pride Center student workers to plan a Food for Thought session discussing minorities within the GLBT community

1. Develop an educational pamphlet that addresses the myths and facts surrounding bisexuality. COMPLETED: September 23.
