Advising and Degree Audit

Faculty Adviser

By your sophomore year, you will be assigned a faculty adviser within your declared major department. Please plan your courses carefully and make sure to let your adviser know when you intend to graduate. Your degree audit outlines all major, minor and university graduation requirements. As such, it is the primary advising tool that should be used by both you and your adviser to ensure that all BSU graduation requirements are fulfilled.

Do you need a Course Substitution? Please remember that;

  • All major or minor required course substitutions must be approved in writing by your department chairperson
  • All course substitutions for GER or Core requirements must be approved in writing by the Associate Dean of the College of Humanities and Social Sciences.

When the Registrar's Office receives an approved course substitution, your degree audit will be reprogrammed to show fulfillment of the missing area, once the substituted course has been completed. Forms for this purpose may be found at: http://www.bridgew.edu/Registrar/forms.cfm.

Degree Audit – Primary Advising Tool

The degree audit is your academic roadmap which shows where you are in achieving your goal of degree completion. To access this record, go to http://www.bridgew.edu, under Quick Links click on InfoBear, click on the Registration & Student Information icon, and log in.

At the time you apply to graduate, your degree audit should show compliance (Yes/Met) in all areas. In most cases, any section of your audit that is still "unmet" will require a schedule change or an approved course substitution form before you are ready to graduate.
