This BSU Student Handbook is a guide to student's rights, responsibilities and resources.
If You Find Yourself in an Emergency Situation,
Here's What to Do...
All emergency situations involving:
1. A crime in progress
2. A medical emergency
3. A fire should be immediately reported to 911.
As an added safety measure, there are "blue light" assistance phones located at strategic points on campus. When the red emergency button is pushed, the caller is in immediate contact with the Bridgewater State University Police Department. In addition to providing voice contact with a police dispatcher, their use also enables the dispatcher to pinpoint the caller's location.
To report any incident occurring on campus that is not an emergency, call Police Dispatch directly at 508.531.1212.
When calling for either emergency or nonemergency service, be prepared
to:
1. Clearly identify yourself,
2. State where you are calling from,
3. State briefly the nature of your call.
If possible, stay on the line unless otherwise advised by the dispatcher. The dispatcher will summon the appropriate police, fire and/or medical service.
