Each teacher who attends a weekend module or a summer institute will receive a stipend for his/her participation. The stipend is contingent on the submission of a related lesson plan.
Under Grant I participants are paid $27.00/hour and will be paid for 10 hours for weekend modules ($270.00) and for 30 hours for summer institutes ($810.00). In addition, each participant will receive $50.00 to cover expenses for traveling to and from the location.
Stipends for spring and fall modules under Grant II will be the same as Grant I ($270.00 plus $50.00 for travel expenses). For the summer institutes participants will receive a $1500.00 stipend and will have expenses related to travel, accommodations, meals, and admissions fees covered up to a specific amount designated by the grant.
Teachers will also receive a certificate for their professional development points upon completion of the module or institute.
To receive your stipend:
File a W-9 form with Bridgewater State College at least one week before the module. Once you have filed a W-9 once, you will be all set for this module as well as future modules. Your school's liaison can provide you with W-9 forms, or you can contact Dianne Power directly.
On the first day, you will receive a contract from BSC. Read it, sign it, and return it before you leave on the first day.
Attend all sessions of the module.
Create a lesson plan (Grant I) or activity (Grant II) related to the module. (See lesson plan guidelines and activity guidelines for more details. Further instructions will be provided at the module or institute)
Send your lesson plan, a completed invoice, and your completed evaluation form to Dianne Power at History Department, Tillinghast Hall, Bridgewater State College, Bridgewater, MA 02325.
The invoice will be processed for payment. Failure to include an invoice with your lesson plan will result in a delay in receiving your stipend.
Checks should arrive within a month of submitting the invoice. If you do not receive your check, please check with your school's liaison or contact Dianne.
To receive your professional development points:
Fill out the Certificate of Completion form (available from Dianne) and return it to the TAHG office.
You will receive a Certificate of Completion in the mail from BSC's Graduate and Continuing Education program (Please be aware that due to the volume of paperwork this office processes that it may be several weeks before you receive your certificate).
