The Office of Institutional Diversity (OID) Fall 2011 Book Club

 

The Office of Institutional Diversity (OID) invites you to join colleagues from across the campus in the OID Fall 2011 book club as we read and discuss Invisible Privilege, A Memoir about Race, Class, & Gender by Paula Rothenberg.  "This book presents one woman's story of her life viewed through the lenses of gender, class, and race.  Rothenberg examines the ways, both positive and negative, in which these three factors have shaped her experiences and opportunities.  The purpose of this self-examination of privilege is to 'uncover the forces that often render it invisible to those who benefit from it the most'" (From Library Journal: http://www.amazon.com/Invisible-Privilege-Memoir-About-Gender/dp/0700610049).  Each session of the book club will feature a discussion of a chapter from the book, the ways in which the material can inform our work at BSU -- AND lunch!    

The meetings run from 12:30-1:30 PM.  Lunch and the book are provided by the OID.
