International Student Orientation
All international students on F-1 and J-1 visas are required to attend International Student Orientation before their first semester. This is in addition to Orientation offered for all Freshman, Transfer and Graduate students. International student orientation is designed to help international students become familiar with the campus, policies and federal regulations governing international students.
You are required to attend International Student Orientation even if you will be transferring to BSU from another U.S. educational institution because all institutions have different polices and interpret the federal regulation based on specific campus policies. It is extremely important for you to attend and learn your responsibilities in order to ensure your success as an international student.
All new international freshman students are required to attend First Year Student Orientation with other freshman students. You will receive information regarding this orientation from the Admissions Office. You must register online and attend your First Year Student Orientation before attending International Student Orientation. You will take a placement test and register for courses during your First Year Student Orientation.
Contact the Office of Student Involvement & Leadership for more information.
All new international transfer students are required to attend Transfer Transitions Orientation with other transfer students. You will receive information regarding this orientation from the Admissions Office. You must register online and attend your Transfer Transitions Orientation before attending International Student Orientation. You will take a placement test, if required, and register for courses during your Transfer Transitions Orientation.
Contact Office of Student Involvement & Leadership for more information.
All new international graduate students are required to attend International Student Orientation. You will receive a separate invitation from the Office of Graduate Studies to attend Graduate Student Orientation.
All new exchange students are required to attend International Student Orientation.
If you plan to live on campus at BSU, you will be required to attend International Student Orientation on two days. The general move-in date for the residence halls is the Sunday, before classes begin. If you need to move into your on-campus room before the move-in date, please communicate with the Office of Residence Life & Housing: there is an additional charge for moving in prior to the general move-in date. Please also let ISS know as soon as possible.
For information regarding on-campus housing, please visit the Office of Residence Life & Housing.
As soon as you have set up your BSU Email account, please email International Student and Scholar Services so that we can start our communication. We will also send you information regarding the date and time of your International Student Orientation via email.
Also please feel free to email us if you have any questions or concerns before International Student Orientation.
