The House on East 88th Street (Nicholas's retelling)

 

Setting:

Characters: Lyle, the crocodile, Mr. Primm, Mrs. Primm, Joshua, man (Hector Valenti)

Takes place at the House on 88th Street, during the day, night

 

Theme:

The Primms move into a new house and soon discover a special crocodile living there.  His owner comes back to take Lyle and the Primms are sad.  The friendship between Lyle and the Primms is very strong.

 

Plot Episodes:

·          1. The Primms move into the new house on East 88th Street. (*They were going to eat lunch.)

·          2. When the movers finally leave, Mrs. Primm goes upstairs to wash her hands when she hears a strange sound coming from the bathroom.

·          2. She opens the door and sees a crocodile and closes the door quickly. (* crocodile in there.)

·          3. Mrs. Primm calls for Mr. Primm (Joseph) who also sees the crocodile in the tub. (* Crocodile is nice. He stayed there a week).

·          Mrs. Primm tries to open the window, Mr. Primm tries the phone but it doesn't work and Joshua answers the door.

·          A man hands Joshua a note explaining that the crocodile belongs to him, his name is Lyle and he likes Turkish caviar. The man will come back sometime to pick Lyle up.

·          Lyle comes down from the bathroom and starts doing tricks (with a ball, walking on his feet, taking flying leaps) and playing with the hula hoop.

·          The Primms liked his tricks and decided to keep Lyle.

·          4. Lyle did chores, took out the newspapers and got the milk, folds the towels, feeds the birds, sets the table, makes his bed.

·          Lyle likes to go to the park and eat things other than caviar.

·          Lyle is a good sport and they take him everywhere.

·          Lyle enjoys warm baths and caviar.

·          5. One day a parade comes by and Lyle can be seen doing tricks.   He becomes very famous and his owner comes back to take him so he can perform at shows.

·          6. The Primms are very sad that Lyle has to go but it's the right thing to do. (* Lyle was crying.)

·          7. While away with Hector Lyle is very sad and he can't perform.  He makes everyone cry instead of laughing.

·          The Primms miss him too.

·          8. Hector decides to return Lyle to the Primms because Lyle can't perform anymore.

·          9.  Lyle and the Primms are happy to have Lyle back at the house.

 

Resolution:

After Hector comes back to pick up Lyle, Lyle is very sad and is not a very good performer.  Hector decides to return Lyle back to the Primms.  Lyle and the Primms are very happy to have him back. (*Lyle is back doing chores.)
