Lesson Plan – Phoneme
Addition
Add It On
Like the activity, “Take It Away”, this oral activity can be
practiced with students at almost any time.
Objective:
To provide students with the opportunity to practice the
task of phoneme addition.
Materials: Word Lists
Class Puppet (optional)
Activity:
Tell the children to say a word. Ask
them to say the word
again, but this time they are to add a phoneme.
For example:
Teacher:
“Say top.”
Students:
“Top”
Teacher
“What word do you have if you add /s/ to
The beginning of top?”

Students:
“Stop.”
