Objective:
To provide students with the opportunity to practice
phoneme substitution.
Materials:
Teacher created word lists
Activity:
In this oral activity, students make new
words by
replacing the first sound in the word with the target
sound.
For example:
Ask the children to substitute the /h/ in
hand with /s/. They respond
“sand”. Some additional
words to use with the targeted /s/ phoneme are:
hit
well
funny
bun
mad bend
rat
rope
