Lesson
Plans
The lesson plans that follow are suggestions for Phonological and
Phonemic Awareness activities that can be easily integrated into any preschool,
kindergarten, or first grade classroom.
The intent of the activities is to provide students with opportunities to
participate in developmentally appropriate instructional activities that are
playful, engaging, interactive, and social. (Yopp & Yopp, 2000).
It is hoped these activities will encourage students to experiment and
play with the sounds of language.
These activities are meant to compliment the authentic literacy
activities that take place in a print and language rich classroom.
Connections to the Massachusetts English Language Arts Curriculum
Framework have been provided.
