All About Jeanne!
My name is Jeanne Hagelstein-Ivas. I have been teaching for 30 years and have enjoyed almost every minute of it. I grew up in North Weymouth, MA, attending St. Jerome School and Archbishop Williams High School before heading off to college at Fitchburg State.
My life is enriched by my husband of 20 years, Steve, and our 15 year old son, Justin. We are blessed with 10 nieces and nephews, of which the newest nephew arrived 7/17/03. I grew up in Weymouth, while Steve grew up in Tewksbury. We met on a canoe/camping trip on the Saco River. Life has been an adventure ever since. We both love to travel and we have lived abroad in Saudi Arabia for awhile. Justin has eleven middle names from various cultures around the world.
We are an active and busy family. We enjoy canoeing and kayaking, cycling, hiking, and camping. Steve and I like cross country skiing, while Justin prefers downhill skiing and snow- shoeing. We are all avid readers and look forward to the next Harry Potter book. We engaged in friendly debate as to which of us got to read Order of the Phoenix first. We enjoy music and attend concerts whenever we can. Justin and I play a mean game of Scrabble and various card games when we have a chance.
Steve and I are active politically in Norwell, where we live. He is a Water Commissioner and I am a Library Trustee. Budget season keeps us pretty busy. We are the only elected couple in town!
Justin is an active Boy Scout in Troop 66. He is about to begin his Eagle project. I am on the Troop Committee and keep track of all the advancement for the troop. Working with the boys is fun and rewarding.
