Research Project in Reciprocal Teaching
![]()
Statement of Problem
Some secondary students feel overwhelmed with the amount of informational or technical reading which is required in their classes, especially in social studies and science courses. Additionally, lengthy literature selections may overwhelm students. They need strategies that will allow them to take charge of their learning and cope with text across multiple settings. Reciprocal teaching is a set of comprehension strategies, which might engage students and prove useful to them. The four component strategies are prediction, summarization, clarification, and questioning.
The planned outcomes were students will acquire these strategies, apply them independently to readings across settings, and improve comprehension of what they have read.
