Unit of Study: The Industrial Revolution
Topic: Lowell Mill Girls
Students are given the hand-out "A Letter to Hannah" from Perspectives in History and listen as the first page is read aloud by the teacher.
Students then write a question or comment on post-it notes.
Students are paired and partner to read the remaining three pages. One student is the listener and writes a question or comment on the page his/her partner is reading, then roles are switched.
Comments and questions post-it notes are then posted on large chart paper and are discussed in a whole class setting.
