Finding Articles: Indexes, Abstracts, and Online Databases

Indexes and Abstracts are tools that help you locate journal, magazine and newspaper articles, and in some cases, chapters in books, conference proceedings, etc.

Maxwell Library's print indexes and abstracts are located on the First Floor; our online databases are accessible to Bridgewater State College students, faculty, and staff from any computer with Internet access (username and password required).

Provided by the American Geological Institute this website includes climate data, information about careers, images and a geologic time scale.

Marine Biological Laboratory, Woods Hole
Web page for Woods Hole, with connections to the Oceanographic Institute as well. Contains the searchable E.coli gene database, a collection of electronic resources in marine science, and links to marine science databases.

OceanWorld
Resources for students and educators at all level. Maintained by the Jason Education Project at Texas A&M Dept. of Oceanography.

U.S. Geological Survey
"Fact Sheets" provide detailed information on programs the USGS is conducting in each state. Also available are press releases (up-to-date) and earthquake and flood information.

Volcano World
Detailed information about volcanoes around the world, including definitions of common terms, lists of currently erupting volcanoes, and a "volcano of the week."
