Children's Books and Periodicals

Children's Books. Located in the Educational Resources Center is a collection of over 15,000 books appropriate for children and young adults. An attempt has been made to select quality materials useful for literature based curricula, thematic teaching units and enrichment in the content areas. The collection is updated annually with new selections. Holdings are particularly strong in the following areas:
  • Alphabet and counting books
  • Folk and fairy tales
  • Arts and crafts
  • Holidays
  • Countries and cultures
  • Newbery and Caldecott Awards
  • Disability awareness
  • Science experiments
All children's books are entered in Webster, Maxwell Library's online catalog.

Children's Periodicals. The Educational Resources Center has a sample collection of major periodicals for young people, including the following titles:

Also located in the Educational Resources Center is the Children's Magazine Guide, a subject index to almost 50 periodicals for young people.
