The English Server
From Carnegie-Mellon University, a database of over 18,000 texts covering English language and literature.

Ethnologue Database
Information on some 6500 languages spoken throughout the world, including alternate names, number of speakers, location, dialects, linguistic affiliation, and other sociolinguistic and demographic data.
