Lornie is the Director of Science for Grades 6-12 for the Dedham Public Schools. He has served as a classroom teacher, Team Leader, and Lead Teacher prior to assuming the directorship. In all capacities he is recognized as a knowledgeable, talented, and dedicated professional. Lornie also serves as a consultant to several science textbook publishers, as a mentor to new and experienced teachers in several ongoing programs, and as a contributor to many professional organizations. He has been the recipient of the Outstanding Biology Teacher Award for Massachusetts and the Art of Teaching Award. His nomination reads, "Lornie Bullerwell is one of those rare individuals whose ability as a teacher, mentor, and colleague is truly exceptional".
