George A. Weygand"When I look around, I see Physics everywhere."

George Weygand graduated from Bridgewater State College with a B.S. in 1953 before earning an Ed.D. at Harvard University in 1961. He has returned to Bridgewater State College, where his current position is Chairperson of the Physics Department. Since Mr. Weygand returned to Bridgewater State College, he has seen the student population grow from 600 to over 8000 students.

He has served as College Marshall, fulfilled many roles in College governance, served on numerous committees and task forces, and has been active in many professional organizations. He has received several awards from Bridgewater State College, including two Distinguished Service Awards, a Pride in Performance Award, the V. James Dinardo Award for teaching excellence, and the Nicholas Tillinghast Award.

George has been active in the community, serving as Chairman of the Board of the Brockton Hospital, President of the Bridgewater Cooperative Bank, and a lay-leader at his church.

  • Authored a Physics textbook, College Physics, which has been used in over 200 colleges in several countries
