This program provides a broad background in computer science and mathematics and will prepare graduates for employment in computer applications or for graduate studies in the field.
The Department of Mathematics and Computer Science offers a wide variety of activities and programs for students. An Honors Program as well as a chapter (Massachusetts Gamma) of the honorary mathematical society PI MU EPSILON have been established at Bridgewater. Various seminars, colloquia and symposia in both mathematics and computer science, as well as a collaborative (MACS) with area high schools and businesses are ongoing.
The Department offers undergraduate programs for majors in both mathematics and computer science leading to the Bachelor of Science degree. Minors in mathematics and computer science and an interdisciplinary minor in actuarial science are also available.
Graduate programs leading to the Master of Arts in Teaching (MAT-Math), the Master of Science (M.S.-Computer Science), and the Certificate of Advanced Graduate Study (CAGS) are among the Department's offerings. The Bridgewater State College Mathematics and Computer Science Department recognizes the constantly changing needs and goals of business, industry and education and as such, will maintain the standards of high quality and growth so necessary in today's society.
