Math Services exists to promote students' understanding and confidence in mathematical reasoning. We also support faculty to increase student engagement in quantitative reasoning across the curriculum.

Math Services offers a variety of learning assistance services.

Math Tutoring

Our tutors are available at no cost, and without an appointment, in the Academic Achievement Center on the ground floor of Maxwell Library. Students from any course with mathematical or quantitative content are invited to drop in for a consultation.

Tutors are on duty five days per week. The weekly schedule may have updated information on which tutors are on duty this week, and their subject specialties.

Trigonometry Workshop Series

This semester, Math Services is offering a series of six workshops designed to build intuition and skill in trigonometry. The workshops are free to attend, and students from any course are invited to attend.

The workshops are held

Tuesdays 4:00 — 6:00 p.m. in the Academic Achievement Center classroom.

QuAC Faculty Learning Community

Math Services is committed to supporting the faculty at BSU and beyond to increase the engagement of their students in quantitative reasoning — whatever their discipline.

In 2011-2012, we are inaugurating a faculty learning community called Quantity Across the Curriculum (QuAC) surrounding issues related to developing students' numeracy skills.
