Students gathered in the Heritage Room of the library last Thursday for a panel discussion that featured career advice from successful alumni in the field of communication.
Topics included descriptions of an average workday, skills and qualities that employers are looking for, and tips and advice for landing a job and staying focused.
John Paganelli, an associate director at Career Services, explained that a major goal of the event was to emphasize the importance of internships.
Communications major,
Brian Callahan, a junior, said he enjoyed the personal career information given by the speakers.
"It really gives you a behind-the-scenes look," he said.
At the end of the discussion, the alumni offered some words of wisdom, with each praising the career offices at BSC.
Panelists were
Judith Graham, '01, acting dean/staff associate, Bunker Hill Community College, Chelsea Campus;
Jenna Stephenson '03, coordinator, BSC's Office of External Affairs;
Kerrie Babin '02, president and CEO of the Taunton Chamber of Commerce;
Christine M. Bren, '03, broadcast technician, WCVB-TV; and
Jeff Fowler, '03, station manager, Bridgewater Cable Access.
The event was co-sponsored by the
