Last Tuesday, the Center for Entrepreneurship Studies hosted Networking 101, an interactive panel discussion and workshop featuring two successful alumni and aimed at honing the listening and presentation skills of students.

The alumni at the event, held in the Dunn Conference Suite, were: Jeff Lahens, owner of ECC Life & Style, a Boston-based menswear designer; and Raquel Mullaney, owner of Comfort Keepers, a national franchise providing home care for elderly throughout the South Shore and Cape Cod.

"Networking is important to students to give them a leg up on the best internship and job opportunities," said Ms. Mullaney. "You never know who you're going to meet and how they may help you launch your career."

The approximately 45 attendees participated in the interactive portion of the event, practicing their networking skills by interviewing a companion and then introducing their new contact to the group.

The CES will host another panel discussion moderated by Louis Ricciardi, '81, chairman of the Bridgewater State College Board of Trustees and member of the Massachusetts Board of Higher Education. The event will focus on developing a business plan and will be held Oct. 22 at 5:30-8:00 pm in the Campus Center ballroom. (Story by Karen Booth, Institutional Communications; photo submitted)
