Building on its reputation as an institution that offers offering students a truly global perspective, the college recently signed a note of agreement with China's
Hong Kong Institute of Education to explore the possibility of an exchange program.
Also, BSC welcomed for the fall semester
Dr. Khalil Al-Qatawneh from Jordan's Tafila Technical University. He will teach Arabic, as well as a freshman seminar class, and will serve as co-instructor for a graduate-level education course. He is the second visiting scholar as a direct result of BSC's relationship with Tafila.
Kausayla Srinivasin, a scholar of classical dance from India, has returned to Bridgewater and will work with
Dr. Nancy Moses, professor of theater and dance, to plan a winter study tour to her homeland.
During July, four students from the spring semester Arabic I course traveled to Jordan with
Dr. Jabbar Al-Obaidi, professor of communication studies. The students visited Petra and had the opportunity to practice their newly acquired language skills with Jordanian students.
Also, this summer, 13 students traveled to Peru with sociology faculty members
Dr. Michelle Wakin and
Dr. Jodi Cohen. While in Peru, students took part in various excursions, including hiking and rafting trips and learned much about the country's culture.
In other international news, for the first time, BSC is host to two students on exchange for the full academic year from Kansai University in Japan. The college will also host six graduate students from Jordan, beginning in January. They will be enrolled in the School of Business.
