More than 200 first-year students were honored at the New Student Dean's List Ceremony in the Rondileau Campus Center auditorium, where administrators praised the students' early academic achievement as the first step toward a bright future.

Robots took over the Adrian Tinsley Center at Bridgewater State University on Saturday, when BSU hosted the FIRST Tech Challenge regional qualifier. The challenge pitted 24 high school teams in a robotics competition for a shot at the Massachusetts championship tournament.

Fourteen members of the Bears football team have been named to the 2011 New England Football Conference All-Academic Team. To qualify, a player must have completed three semesters at the same institution with a cumulative of 3.0 or better grade point average.

Members of Criminal Justice Student Organization at Bridgewater State University held a community-wide teddy bear drive this semester, collecting more than 300 stuffed animals to distribute to local emergency service workers. They, in turn, will dispense to children who have witnessed events that require police involvement.
