The Bridgewater State College Police Department provides protection to the BSC community around the clock, year-round. Police Department staff work with the college community to prevent crime, solve problems, and take proactive steps to make BSC as safe as possible.
Department personnel includes the chief, assistant to the chief, deputy chief, captain, lieutenants, sergeants, police officers, security officers, dispatchers, the department secretary, and the residential security coordinator. In addition, the department employs students to assist with the Safety Escort Service, and as student security officers, and provides student internship opportunities for those pursuing studies in the social service/criminal justice fields.
Prepared to deal with the same types of incidents handled by municipal police agencies, all police officers attend municipal police academy training and have full police authority on campus and throughout the town of Bridgewater. The Bridgewater State College Police enforce state laws, including motor vehicle laws, as well as college rules and regulations.
