Police Officer
The Bridgewater State University Police Department employs full-time police officers and part-time reserve police officers. These positions are highly competitive. Previous experience and training in policing, particularly in a college setting, is preferred. Bridgewater State University Police Officers provide a full range of police services and receive comprehensive training, including the municipal police officer academy.
Reserve Police Officer
Reserve police officers are part-time, on call employees. This is a great opportunity for those just starting their law enforcement careers. Minimum requirements for this position include successful completion of the Reserve/Intermittent police academy.
Institutional Security Officer
The Department employs full-time institutional security officers who are assigned to residence halls. Although permanent in nature, these are 9-month positions.
Communications Dispatcher
The Department employs full-time communications dispatchers. Dispatchers perform a number of tasks including answering emergency calls by phone and radio as well as police-related clerical functions.
Parking Lot Monitor
The Department employs part-time parking lot monitors who are assigned to key parking lots on campus in order to provide access control to authorized vehicles.
Support Staff
The Department employs several full-time and part-time staff to support the Department's mission.

University Safety Escort Service
As a University Safety Escort van driver, you are responsible for the safe transportation of students and other BSU community members as a safer alternative to walking alone at night. Four-hour shifts are available 7 days a week between the hours of 7p.m. and 3a.m. There is also a student-coordinator position for this program. Student Security Officer Program
As an SSO, you provide access control at the front entrance to on campus residence halls. Four-hour shifts are available 7 days a week between the hours of 7p.m. and 3a.m. There is also several student-coordinator positions for this program.
Student Dispatcher Program
As a student dispatcher you will assist full-time police officers and dispatchers by answering telephones, dispatching personnel and assisting the public. Student dispatchers also have primary responsibility for answering and dispatching requests for the Safety Escort vans.
Clerical Assistant
The clerical assistant aids in a variety of clerical functions including answering telephones, filing, and special projects. Experience with Microsoft Office is helpful.
