Presidential Award for Diversity, Inclusion & Social Justice

This award honors the efforts of faculty members and librarians who have demonstrated a commitment to diversity, inclusion and social justice through teaching, community service, recruitment and retention efforts, research, creative work, librarianship and other efforts that promote dialogue and equitable treatment of all.  Diversity, inclusion and social justice are part of the institutional mission and this award recognizes those who help to advance that mission. 

The 2012 award recipient will receive a plaque and a check for $3500.

 

Nominations should include the attached nomination form, a CV, and a 2-3 page electronic summary describing in detail how the nominee demonstrates one or both of the following: 

 

·     Exceptional commitment to and effectiveness in facilitating diversity, inclusion and social justice.  Examples could include but are not limited to course development, mentoring programs, participatory action research, community partnerships, development of resource materials, etc.

·     Leadership and commitment to the inclusion of persons who are members of traditionally under-represented groups in workplace activities/initiatives.

 

The Office of Institutional Diversity must receive completed nominations by February 10, 2012.  The review committee consists of  the Director of Institutional Diversity, a board member from the Diversity Inclusion Resource Institute, the Director of Teaching and Learning, a member of the Student Diversity Council, and the Executive Assistant to the President.  The final decision of who shall receive this award will be made by President Mohler-Faria.
