BRIDGEWATER – The Bridgewater State College Observatory will be open to the public, weather permitting, from 8:00-10:00 p.m. on Wednesday, May 14 and Wednesday, May 28. The observatory is located on Summer Street, approximately one half mile from the campus. It is recessed from the street on the opposite side of the road from Carver Pond.

Bridgewater State College will host Celebrating African Arts: Music, Dance, Stories on Wednesday, March 26 at 7:00 p.m. in Boyden Hall’s Horace Mann Auditorium. This event is part of the College’s Africa Awareness Week activities and will culminate a day-long series of campus-wide drumming and dance workshops, storytelling sessions, and dance aerobics classes.

The Massachusetts Executive Office of Energy and Environmental Affairs, in partnership with the Plymouth Carver Aquifer Advisory Committee, has contracted with Bridgewater State College's Institute for Regional Development (IRD) to study residential, business, and agriculture water usage and perceptions of water conservation issues in the Plymouth Carver Aquifer (PCA).

Children as young as 6 and adults of all ages are welcome to come to look at stars, planets, galaxies and any other interesting celestial objects. This session is free. 10/18/07 - Bridgewater State College Selected to Participate in Project Compass
The Nellie Mae Education Foundation has announced that Bridgewater State College has been chosen as one of six New England public, postsecondary institutions to participate in Project Compass, the Foundation's new multi-year initiative aimed at increasing the number of underrepresented populations graduating with four-year degrees.

10/4/07 - BRIDGEWATER STATE COLLEGE RECEIVES $250,000 PLEDGE FROM BRISTOL COUNTY SAVINGS BANK
The Bristol County Savings Charitable Foundation (BCSC) has pledged $250,000 over a five-year period to Bridgewater State College to help the institution provide financial assistance to first-generation college students and others who might not otherwise be able to afford college. Mr. E. Dennis Kelly Jr., president and CEO of Bristol County Savings Bank, presented the first of five annual installments of $50,000 recently to Dr. Dana Mohler-Faria, president of Bridgewater State College.

Ricciardi, '81, of Assonet, MA, was elected chairman; Mr. Matthew P. Keswick, of Quincy, was elected vice chairman; and Mr. Arthur C. George, Esq., of Holbrook, was elected secretary. Mr. Ricciardi served as the alumni trustee from 1989 to 1999 and was appointed to the Board by the Governor in November, 2004. Mr. Keswick has served as a trustee since 2001 and Attorney George since 1999.
