GAMMA PHI BETA

Gamma Phi Beta was founded in 1874 at Syracuse University in New York. Today, there are more than 140 chapters across the United States and Canada (making us international). Also, a notable fact is that Gamma Phi Beta was the first organization to be coined "Sorority."

Our open motto is "founded upon a rock" which symbolizes the stability and durability of our sisterhood. We were founded upon belief of developing the highest type of womanhood. We accomplish this through PACE (Personal And Chapter Enrichment) programs to better the chapter and ourselves.

Locally, Gamma Phi Beta was formed here at Bridgewater State College in 1987. Our international symbol is the crescent moon and our flower is the pink carnation, both of which you can easily find in any Gamma Phi's room or home. Our international colors are brown and mode (light brown).  For philanthropy, every fall we do the "Mr. Greek" competition, for the amusement of the BSC community and every spring we hold the 24 hour Rock-a-thon, which benefits the Children's Physical Development Clinic on campus.  Whatever the event, we do it as sisters and to strengthen our sisterhood, and still have a good time. For more information contact Jennifer Pereira, the President of Gamma Phi Beta at j3pereira@bridgew.edu.
