Celebration Held to Mark a Decade of Phi Delta Kappa at BSC

Members of Phi Delta Kappa International, the association for professional educators, gathered last Friday in the Campus Center ballroom to celebrate the organization's 10th anniversary at BSC. Dr. Jane Souza, president of the BSC chapter, welcomed the attendees, and President Dana Mohler-Faria also offered remarks.

Throughout the event, those who dedicated a year of effort in establishing the local chapter of PDK were honored, including Barbara Bautz, Daniel Bresnahan, Gloria Moran, Joanne Newcombe, Paul Prescott and Mary Shorey. The 41 members initiated during the chapter’s founding ten years ago were also honored. Among those present were Julie Conroy, Ruth Fitzpatrick, Mary Ann McKinnon, Sandra Reese and Nancy Witherell. Special tribute was paid to Professor Emeritus John Deasy, who has been a member of PDK for more than 50 years. Ms. Mary Ann McKinnon, assistant dean of the School of Education and Allied Studies, followed with a brief video of the history of the BSC chapter.
