NEW TEACHER PARTNERSHIP

NTP invites recent graduates of teacher licensing programs to our campus to develop mentor relationships with experienced teacher leaders from the community and with BSC faculty, before and during their first year of teaching.

NTP is comprised of three distinct components:

"New Teacher Academy" (NTA)- an intensive two-day summer seminar for recent teacher education graduates.  The two-day NTA focuses on reviewing some of the pedagogy learned in education classes.

"New Teacher Seminars" (NTS)
-
seminars designed to address the challenges that new teachers may face throughout their first year of teaching. The seminars are conducted several times during the upcoming academic year. These seminars include brief presentations from college faculty or community-based teacher leaders, followed by extended small group discussions or work sessions to address individual teacher concerns.

"Mentoring Beginning Teachers" - a three credit graduate course for teacher leaders focusing on student teaching supervision, mentoring and professional development.
