Directions and Helpful Hints

  1. The application (doc) is Word file that is available on this website. We recommend saving it to your personal computer so that your completed application is typed. You will be required to submit a printed copy to the Office of Student Affairs, Boyden Hall, Room 106. Applications are due on Friday, December 9, 2011 by 5:00 pm. Online submissions are not possible.
  1. Students who meet the eligibility requirements are encouraged to complete the application process. Individuals who were honored through this recognition program in 2011 (doc) are not eligible.
  1. The application has FOUR parts:
    • Section I: Applicant Information Sheet
    • Section II: Academic and Cocurricular Inventory
    • Section III: Essay
    • Unofficial Transcript from Info Bear
  1. A completed application must be TYPED and include all four part listed above.
  1. Keeping a high level of anonymity in the screening process is important to give each candidate a fair chance. Please place your name only on the Background Sheet and University Transcript. If you are submitting supplemental information please black out any reference to your name.
  1. For the purpose of this recognition, please include only those activities that have occurred during the time that you have been engaged in undergraduate studies at Bridgewater. Your involvement in campus and/or surrounding community activities will be considered.
  1. In selecting candidates for this prestigious recognition, the committee will review all the application materials submitted. It is a good idea to highlight in your essay those experiences and activities that go beyond normal class requirements or the job description for positions you have held.
  1. The application is design to help you organize your achievements and accomplishments. Be cognizant of providing enough detail to give committee members a solid sense of your achievements and involvement. Remember that the committee members will probably not know you, or if they do, they may not know the most important things about you.
  1. Involve a faculty member, administrative mentor or a trusted friend in reviewing your final application to make sure that it represents your best work. If you have questions, please feel free to contact any member of the screening and selection committee.
