Who's Who Among Students in American Universities and Colleges

About the Application Process

Applications for this recognition program are accepted during the fall semester. Students who meet the eligibility requirements are encouraged to complete the application process. Individuals who were honored through this recognition program in 2012  are not eligible.

  1. The application (doc) is Word file that is available on this website. We recommend saving it to your personal computer so that your completed application is typed. You will be required to submit a printed copy to the Office of Student Affairs, Boyden Hall, Room 106. Applications are due on Friday, December 7, 2012 by 5:00 pm. Online submissions are not possible.

  2. The application has FOUR parts:
  • Section I: Applicant Information and Endorsement Sheet
  • Section II: Academic and Cocurricular Inventory
  • Section III: Essay
  • Unofficial Transcript from Info Bear

NOTE: A completed application must be TYPED and include all four parts listed above.

Helpful Hints in Completing the Application

  1. Please place your name only on the Application Information and Endorsement Sheet and University Transcript.  If you are submitting supplemental information please black out any reference to your name. Keeping a high level of anonymity in the screening process is important to give each candidate a fair chance.

  2. Your application must be endorsed by two full-time members of the BSU faculty or administration, one of which MUST be a faculty member in your major department. Plan to seek out these signatures PRIOR to the deadline to give the endorser the opportunity, if one so chooses, to consult with colleagues.

  3.  If you were notified by the selection committee that you were nominated by a faculty or staff member, you may attach a hard copy of that nomination email in lieu of a signature. Nominations are not required to be eligible to apply but we encourage you to talk to your faculty and staff mentors of your interest in this program. Self nominations are also accepted.

  4. For the purpose of this recognition, please include only those activities that have occurred during the time that you have been engaged in undergraduate studies at Bridgewater. Your involvement in campus and/or surrounding community activities will be considered.

  5. In selecting candidates for this prestigious recognition, the committee will review all the application materials submitted. It is a good idea to highlight in your essay those experiences and activities that go beyond normal class requirements or the job description for positions you have held.

  6. The application is designed to help you organize your achievements and accomplishments. Be cognizant of providing enough detail to give committee members a solid sense of your achievements and involvement. Remember that the committee members will probably not know you, or if they do, they may not know the most important things about you.

  7. Involve a faculty member, administrative mentor or a trusted friend in reviewing your final application to make sure that it represents your best work. If you have questions, please feel free to contact any member of the screening and selection committee.
