Paris on Film
Comm 356
January 5-16,2009

A city, like beauty, is in the eye of the beholder. This study tour turns an eye toward Paris and its filmic beholders, looking at how the City of Lights has served as location and inspiration for French and Hollywood filmmakers for over a century. The course begins with background material about the French film industry, its films, and the relationship between Paris and Hollywood. During a 10-day stay in Paris, we'll experience the sites and culture of Paris (and Paris on film) firsthand. The course will culminate in a creative mediated work (a short film, a podcast, etc.) that captures the student's view of Paris as location and inspiration.
